Business and personal branding photography isn’t just for the consultants and coaches, online businesses come in so many forms that sometimes it can be hard for clients to pin down the look and feel they want for their own business.
Alex runs feedthebrood.com a fabulous website all about baby led weening, healthy eating, family meal time and preparation with an educational edge.
After having an initial chat with Alex I understood her concerns and frustrations, which is what am here to address in an image capacity at least. Struggling to find a constant style for Instagram and also needing personal and business branded images for her site, the next step was for me to have a good nose around her website to get a feel for her style.
She already had a fabulous logo and a lovely clean website ( love a lot of white space) but was struggling to come up with imagery that would work with her brand. It’s often a case that a fresh pair of eyes can see the obvious and it’s something I love doing. My brain was in overdrive and I had so many ideas that I was already pinning to her secret Pinterest board. Thats the fabulous thing about pinning, you start with a few simple images using your brand keywords, key messages, subjects and before you know it, it leads onto more visual ideas than you thought were possible.
Whilst I was pinning away, Alex’s tasks was to find a suitable location for the shoot, she wanted a useable kitchen/ dining space that was light and airy as the shoot would be based around food, prep, cooking and eating along with those fempreneur working business images.
She hit gold with a lovely light space with lots of natural light and as I work only with natural light this was a perfect shoot location.
With food being a key part of the shoot and wanting to keep it inline with her brand as much as possible, we collaborated on the types of food that would work well in the shoot thinking about pops of colour and what was in season.
We discussed outfits and looks, something I touch more on in my personal branding guide coming soon. It’s such an important aspect of the shoot, not only to create a consistent look in the images but more importantly that my lovely clients are comfortable in what they are wearing and Alex certainly delivered on that front with white , kaki and green tones, keeping inline with her brand and simple white tees for her little ones.
My advise when planning for a shoot is bring everything and anything you can think of, the more outfit options the better, the more props ( if needed) the better, its fabulous to have an array of items to choose from and whilst we won’t use them all, with styled shoots its never a case of less is more.
I you’er looking for a personal branding shoot and not sure where to start drop me a line, I’d love to chat with you.
Here are just a few images from Alex’s shoot.
